OceanaGold operates mines in the three largest goldfields in New Zealand.
On the South Island, the Macraes operation in Otago consists of an open pit and the Frasers underground mine. It also includes the Reefton operation on the west coast. In 2016, OceanaGold announced Reefton would be put under care and maintenance and subsequently announced the Company is commencing closure and rehabilitation activities.
On the North Island of New Zealand, OceanaGold acquired the Waihi Gold Mine from Newmont Mining in October 2015. This operation consists of an underground mine as well as an open pit mine, where mining activities are currently suspended. For more information visit the the Waihi Operation website.
